Tile Flooring
Porcelain, ceramic and stone set on a prepared substrate, with the movement joints that keep grout from cracking.
Tile is the longest-lived floor we install and the least tolerant of a rushed substrate. Cracked grout lines, hollow-sounding tiles and lippage at the edges are almost never the tile's fault — they trace back to a substrate that moved, an unsuitable bond, or missing movement joints. We prepare properly, set with the right mortar for the tile and the substrate, and build in the joints the standards call for.
What Our Clients Say
Unedited reviews from Northeast Florida homeowners. We hold a 5.0 rating across 40 Google reviews — the highest of any flooring company in the local market.
Why Choose Tile Flooring
Porcelain, ceramic and natural stone
Porcelain is denser and less porous than ceramic, which makes it the workhorse for wet areas and heavy traffic. Ceramic is easier to cut and generally more economical for lower-traffic rooms. Natural stone brings a look nothing manufactured quite matches, and asks for sealing and a little more care in return. We will walk you through which makes sense for the room, the traffic and how you want to maintain it — including large-format tile, which looks superb and is completely dependent on a flat substrate to install without lippage.
- Porcelain for wet areas, entries and heavy traffic
- Ceramic where budget and easy handling matter more
- Natural stone where the look justifies the maintenance
- Large-format tile set over a properly flattened substrate

Substrate, mortar and movement joints
A tile floor is a rigid surface bonded to something that is not entirely rigid, and the industry standards exist because of that tension. Concrete slabs move seasonally and can develop cracks; wood subfloors deflect. Tile set without a crack-isolation or uncoupling membrane over a moving substrate will telegraph that movement into the grout, and eventually the tile. Perimeter and field movement joints give the assembly somewhere to go. Skipping them is the most common reason a tile floor cracks in a straight line across a room for no visible reason.
- Substrate assessed for flatness, soundness and deflection
- Crack-isolation or uncoupling membrane where the substrate requires it
- Mortar selected for the specific tile type and substrate
- Perimeter and field movement joints built into the layout
- Waterproofing systems in showers and wet areas

The Advantages of Professional Tile Flooring
Our Tile Flooring Process
Free in-home estimate
We come out, measure the actual rooms, and look at what is under your current floor. Measuring off a floor plan is how jobs end up short on material.
Moisture and subfloor check
We test the slab or subfloor for moisture and check it for flatness before anything is ordered. In this climate that reading decides which products are safe to install.
Written estimate
You get the material, the labor, the removal and haul-away, and the prep work itemized — so you can see what you are paying for and compare it honestly.
Removal and subfloor prep
Old flooring comes out and leaves with us. We flatten and prepare the subfloor first, because every flooring failure we get called to fix started underneath.
Installation and walkthrough
Our craftsmen install, clean up as they go, and walk the finished floor with you before the crew leaves.

Tile Flooring — Frequently Asked Questions
Usually movement the assembly had no way to absorb — a substrate that flexes or shrinks, no crack-isolation membrane where one was needed, or missing movement joints. Grout is the weakest element, so it fails first and shows you the problem. Re-grouting without addressing the cause just resets the clock.
Lippage is when one tile edge sits higher than its neighbour, so you can feel the ridge. The larger the tile, the less substrate variation it takes to produce it, because a big rigid tile cannot follow a dip. It is controlled by flattening the substrate properly before setting and by using levelling systems during installation — not by adjusting grout width afterwards.
Most does, and it needs resealing periodically depending on the stone and the traffic. We will tell you what the specific stone you are choosing will ask of you before you commit to it, because that maintenance is part of the real cost.
Sometimes, if the existing tile is flat, sound and fully bonded, and if the added height works at your doorways, cabinets and appliances. Often it is better to take it up. We check and give you a straight answer with the cost of each.
Longer than plank flooring — there is setting time, then grouting, then cure time before the floor takes full traffic. Removal and substrate prep drive the schedule more than the tiling itself. You get a realistic timeline in the written estimate.
