Tile for Fleming Island homes of any age
About seven in ten Fleming Island homes were built between 1990 and 2009. The rest split between older homes, about 16 percent, and homes built in 2010 or later, about 12 percent.
Whatever year your house was built, choosing tile starts with the material: porcelain or non-porcelain.

What sets porcelain apart
Porcelain is the impervious kind under industry standards, and tile that is not porcelain absorbs more water.
Some tile is sold as porcelain without meeting that standard. Tile bearing the Porcelain Tile Certification Agency (PTCA) mark has been certified as true porcelain, which makes the mark worth asking about when you shop.
Porcelain takes more effort to bond and to cut than non-porcelain tile. That is the installer's concern, and as long as the right setting materials are used, it generally makes little difference to the homeowner.
How we set it, and what our warranty covers
Thinset mortar is not meant to level a floor, and tile follows the plane of the surface beneath it. Every installation also needs room to expand and contract: in a smaller room, a perimeter gap that baseboard or shoe molding often covers, and on larger floors, movement joints you can see, placed more often where moisture or direct sun is expected.
Every tile job has a team leader supervising it, and that leader keeps the work within the manufacturer's warranty guidelines. For the installation itself, our warranty runs 2 years on material and 2 years on labor if we supplied the tile, and 1 year on material and 1 year on labor from the installation date if you did.

How a Tile Flooring Job Runs
No surprises and no pressure. Here is exactly what happens, in the order it happens.
Free in-home estimate
We come out, measure the actual rooms, and look at what is under your current floor. Measuring off a floor plan is how jobs end up short on material.
Moisture and subfloor check
We test the slab or subfloor for moisture and check it for flatness before anything is ordered. In this climate that reading decides which products are safe to install.
Written estimate
You get the material, the labor, the removal and haul-away, and the prep work itemized — so you can see what you are paying for and compare it honestly.
