Wood floors and Fernandina Beach's historic homes
Wood runs deep in the town's building history. The Fernandina Beach Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 20, 1973, and the National Park Service record for it lists Italianate and Queen Anne among its architectural styles.
A 1987 National Register nomination describes the district as mostly one- and two-story masonry commercial buildings and one- and two-story wood-frame residences, built from the mid-1850s to about the later 1920s. Whether your house is one of those or was built last year, a hardwood floor brings real wood grain into the rooms you live in, and we help you pick one that suits the house you have.

The hardwood we carry, and the hardwood you bring
We are an authorized Mohawk retailer, and our Mohawk wood line is TecWood, Mohawk's engineered hardwood. Mohawk sums it up this way: "Like every tree is unique, so is every TecWood engineered hardwood floor."
If you have already bought hardwood somewhere else, we can install that too.
Installed to Mohawk's instructions, with our warranty on top
Mohawk's wood warranty covers the floor when it is installed according to Mohawk's written installation instructions. Mohawk's wood warranty brochure also says those warranties do not extend to installer workmanship, so we add our own installation warranty on top. When we supply and install the floor, it covers 2 years of material and 2 years of labor. When we install hardwood you bought elsewhere, it covers 1 year of material and 1 year of labor from the installation date.
Before any board goes down, Mohawk asks that its wood floors acclimate for at least 72 hours, after the home's heating and cooling, windows and building envelope are finished and running.

Ways to buy, and a free estimate
You can buy hardwood from us and have us install it, have us install hardwood you bought elsewhere, or buy from us and install it yourself or with your own crew. Estimates and in-home measures are free. Our showroom at 7949 Atlantic Blvd, Suite 106, in Jacksonville is open by appointment if you'd like to see floors in person.
How a Hardwood Flooring Job Runs
No surprises and no pressure. Here is exactly what happens, in the order it happens.
Free in-home estimate
We come out, measure the actual rooms, and look at what is under your current floor. Measuring off a floor plan is how jobs end up short on material.
Moisture and subfloor check
We test the slab or subfloor for moisture and check it for flatness before anything is ordered. In this climate that reading decides which products are safe to install.
Written estimate
You get the material, the labor, the removal and haul-away, and the prep work itemized — so you can see what you are paying for and compare it honestly.

Mohawk's wood warranty brochure includes care tips. It suggests dual-fiber mats at every outside door, with a second set to swap in when the first needs cleaning. It also recommends regular dust mopping, sweeping or vacuuming to pick up particles that could scratch, and says never to use a vacuum with a beater bar on wood.
