Where engineered hardwood fits in St. Augustine
About 35 percent of St. Augustine's homes, 3,046 in all, were built in 2000 or later.
Engineered hardwood can go into a wide range of homes. By Mohawk's description, its engineered hardwood is built to stay dimensionally stable and can go in on any grade level, as long as there are no excessive moisture conditions.

Real wood, built in layers
Engineered hardwood is real wood flooring. Instead of one solid piece from top to bottom, it is made from several layers of wood veneer or a lumber core bonded together.
As an authorized Mohawk retailer, we carry TecWood, which Mohawk says is responsibly sourced and shows the unique color, grain and texture of natural hardwood.
Mohawk covers the floor, we cover the work
Mohawk's TecWood warranty protects the floor itself, on the condition that it is installed to Mohawk's written instructions. Its wood warranty brochure also says that coverage does not extend to installer workmanship. Our installation warranty takes care of that side. If TecWood comes from us and we install it, the coverage is 2 years on material and 2 years on labor. Engineered hardwood you bought elsewhere gets 1 year on material and 1 year on labor once we install it, measured from the installation date.
An experienced team leader oversees every installation and keeps it within the manufacturer's warranty guidelines.

How to buy engineered hardwood from us
Three routes are open to you. We can supply TecWood and install it, install engineered hardwood you purchased somewhere else, or sell you TecWood to put down yourself or with your own crew. Whichever you pick, the first step is a free estimate and in-home measure, and appointments are available at our Jacksonville showroom, 7949 Atlantic Blvd, Suite 106.
How a Engineered Hardwood Flooring Job Runs
No surprises and no pressure. Here is exactly what happens, in the order it happens.
Free in-home estimate
We come out, measure the actual rooms, and look at what is under your current floor. Measuring off a floor plan is how jobs end up short on material.
Moisture and subfloor check
We test the slab or subfloor for moisture and check it for flatness before anything is ordered. In this climate that reading decides which products are safe to install.
Written estimate
You get the material, the labor, the removal and haul-away, and the prep work itemized — so you can see what you are paying for and compare it honestly.
